Decon Standardization

Since 2002, NVHA has focused on developing capabilities at each member hospital to perform gross decontamination on victims of an emergency involving hazardous materials.  This has included the installation of shower systems, purchase of Level-C Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), isolation pods for containing infectious patients, as well as investments that protect patients and staff from CBRN situations.

In 2011, NVHA standardized the training curriculum that each member facility uses to train staff members who are part of their internal Decon teams.  This curriculum includes HazMat Awareness and Operations-level training materials using video, interactive, and hands-on exercises.
